Comfort Care Coastal Hospice of Baldwin Reaches Highest Level of National Recognition for Dedication to Veterans

Comfort Care Hospice, LLC.  delivers Veteran-centric care to 59 counties in the State of Alabama directly or through its affiliate Comfort Care Coastal Hospice, LLC.

(Pelham, AL.) – Comfort Care Hospice, LLC. is proud to announce Comfort Care Coastal Hospice of Baldwin as the second of only two hospices in the State of Alabama to be recognized as a  Level 5 Partner with We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. Level 5 is the highest level WHV partners can attain and includes several new required activities and yearly recertification. This achievement marks Comfort Care Hospices’ second service area to attain WHV highest rank.

As a partner, Comfort Care Coastal Hospice of Baldwin is providing specialized care to Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness. Aside from existing partner requirements, Level 5 partners place a greater emphasis on staff education and caring for Vietnam-era and combat Veterans. Additionally, Level 5 partners take on the role of regional mentor to other WHV partners working to enhance their programs.

“When we set out to create the Level 5 program we knew that it had to be different to truly showcase the efforts needed to go above and beyond. Not only have you demonstrated your commitment, but you have helped shape the program and have continued as an example of what all hospice partners should strive to be,” said NHPCO President & CEO Edo Banach.

NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs launched We Honor Veterans in 2010 to address the growing need for Veteran-centered care, especially as Veterans are aging and need access to palliative and hospice care.

“I am pleased that Comfort Care Hospice’s dedication to the community and to quality end of life care to our Veteran population has resulted in our second Level 5 Partnership with NHPCO. It is our great honor to serve Veterans and their families who have truly sacrificed for our community and for our country. While this truly was a team effort, I would specifically like to thank Kenya Nodd , Social Worker,  for her tireless work and passion over the last several years to achieve our goal of becoming a Level 5 Partner, the highest level of recognition for the We Honor Veterans Program. It is a significant accomplishment to be one of only two Level 5 Partners in the State of Alabama,” said Lisa Teel, Chief Operating Officer for Comfort Care Hospice, LLC.
